Pointless Jeans

God knows how long it's been since I've done an outfit post, and again I apologise. My camera has recently given up on me, so that's why outfit posts have been slacking.
However, you can still view my outfits through my Instagram account which I am updating daily: http://instagram.com/natasyaovialund. Once I get my camera fixed and all, I promise I will be back on it. Meanwhile, keep updated through my Instagram for outfit posts.

Anyway, the other day.. my boyfriend's friend needed models for a Uni project and I thought maybe I could use this opportunity to style an outfit together and use his photographs for my blog, which he kindly didn't mind me doing. So for his shoot, I wanted to keep it casual, therefore I chose to wear my DIY jeans with a crop knit jumper to calm down the outfit a little as the jeans are quite a statement. Then finishing off with my favourite fur coat, bargain Shoe Zone Timberland look-a-like boots and my newest sun pendant choker. The aim of this outfit was to create a Autumn/Winter look with these Summer season jeans. I keep my word when I say I don't believe in seasons (obviously within reason).

So my jeans, I call them pretty pointless because my legs are practically out and the practicality of jeans have been cut off but out of all the ripped jeans that are on trend at the moment - these kind are my favourite. And they were surprisingly easy to make, at first I was nervous to cut my Levi 501's but luckily the result of them were exactly what I wanted. I took inspiration from fashion bloggers on Instagram and LookBook to create my jeans. I chose to cut my jeans this way because I haven't really seen it around, other than on bloggers and celebrities so I took the risk of maybe ruining my jeans and never been so thankful of a DIY risk before. If you want to know how I made my jeans, please don't hesitate to contact me - all details on 'Contact Me' section of my blog.

Last but not least, I can't miss out how great these photographs are (as you can see below). My boyfriend's friend Ollie is such a talented photographer (I wish he could take all my blog photographs) and I highly recommend to check out his work: http://www.olliema.com/

Let's Reminisce

Many apologies for the lack of posts! To make up for months of hardly blogging, I think it's about time to reminisce the summer; with the weather turning on us, the clocks going back and all. Let's rewind.

What better way to remember summer than going back to New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week! Unfortunately, I was unable to attend both but I did not miss out on catching up and noting down my favourites. So many trends coming to hit us for Spring/Summer 2015 - I see that my favourite trend 'Sports Luxe' still hasn't faded and beautiful tailoring was also taking over the catwalks at both NYFW and LFW. When looking into the two most exciting fashion events, I chose 2 collections from each, it was hard but these are the ones which stood out to me by a mile.

Starting with New York Fashion Week:

The Blonds -
With Miss J.Alexander in the audience, of course there will be nothing but fierceness coming down the runway. The imagination that is applied to create The Blonds magical collections is just amazing - the embellishments and the colours just reflect The Blonds trademark. Phillipe Blond and David Blond makes fashion fun again! Additionally, the hair and make-up perfectly suited - I love the ghetto Rapunzel look; it just tied everything together as a show collective. Only the Blonds.

Milly -
A complete opposite collection to The Blonds; but I love it as much. Steering towards sophistication rather than the urban look The Blonds were going for. Milly's Spring/Summer 2015 collection is just sheer perfection. And typically me, I spotted that subtle Sports Luxe trend with the sports-bra type tops and track-pant-like-trouser, I just fell in love! The simple colour palette portrayed the garments beautifully and it was just simplicity done so well. I also appreciate the headscarves and how they are adding an old fashioned essence to this modern collection.

So there were my 2 top collections from New York Fashion Week, now time to have to look into London Fashion Week:

Julien McDonald -
Where do I start with this collection; Julien McDonald's Spring/Summer 2015 collection looked like it was dropped from heaven. He is one designer that is the complete opposite of 'less is more' and its fantastic because that is how he is recognised as such a respected designer. Focusing on the pastel colours, and his signature glitz and glamour, this collection stuns the audience with the lace, embroidery and beautiful silhouettes of his garments. I would call this collection; traditionally sexy with the pencil skirts/dresses, transparent mesh then moving onto frilled baby doll dresses, skater silhouettes and then my favourite - the bridal pieces. Within this collection, there was definitely a dress for any occasion. Kudos Julien McDonald - yet another stunning show.

Nasir Mazhar -
Yes, I have chosen yet another collection due to the fact that there is a clear contrast of Sports Luxe and Tribal. Nasir Mazhar however admitted that he is bored of 'sports/streetwear', therefore he decided to go in his own direction with the trend and take influences from Middle East, creating this fierce Arabian tribal-like sporty collection. I love the asymmetric layering and the fact he's kept with his signature look of most of his shows - urban sexiness. Being the bold designer he is, colours will always be vibrant to suit the retro vibe. Even though he has taken inspiration from the Middle East, Mazhar has stayed away from the norm - rather than hiding a female body, he has embraced it.
