Finally Employed!

Yes! It's taken me 3 years but I've finally bagged myself a job in fashion retail, I've been searching for one since I turned 16, and unfortunately had no luck, however had a job in food retail which I appreciate as I've developed my customer service skills and also I feel my self confidence has grown working in a customer-facing working environment. So maybe this showed through in my interview for this part time job (sadly only temporary) at TK Maxx. Anyway, I am so happy and I can't wait to start! I just want to learn more about TK Maxx itself as a company and gain more retail experience, also last but not least I am desperate to go shopping (it's been so long!) and book lots of fun things to do in the summer, bring it onnnnn :D

Sports Luxe

I decided to rock the Sports Luxe trend on a spontaneous night out with my flat mates. At first we were planning to go to an Indie night, so I just dressed casual, and yes all black everything.. again! However we ended up going to our favourite bar Baabar, and thank god I didn't look too casual for the place. Even though things didn't go to plan, it was still a really fun night, as it always is with my flatmates!

Sports Luxe is definitely a big trend of this year; with designers from Gucci to Alexander Wang and high street stores from Topshop to Primark embracing it! It's somewhat a trend coming back from the 90's, with that Urban twist to sporty pieces. 

Finally a trend that is comfortable, which is unlikely in fashion; sports-inspired clothing is flexible and can be experimented with any style I think! Make it super urban, or tough and masculine or rock the tennis-short skirts and make it look pretty and feminine. However, to work this trend, you can't be too chilled out with it.. for example: combining baggy joggers with trainers is a not a way to reflect this Sports Luxe trend, mix it up with some other trends such as a floral dress with trainers - sounds very Lily Allen when she first debuted herself, but I mean skater trainers or slimline trainers to keep that femininity side of your sport outfit. 

One blogger I especially notice is on point with this trend is shewearsfashion.com Kavita Donkersley. If you check out her blog or Lookbook, you definitely see how she experiments with Sports Luxe - take inspiration from designers, high street stores, the street and bloggers etc!

Play this trend, like you'd play a sport, have fun and be competitive with other current/upcoming trends! It's game on and you're the captain..

With my outfit, I decided to take on the feminine side on this trend with jogger black trousers, an Adidas sports top I cut into a crop top, my dad's old belt, the shoes I live in - my cut out buckle chunky boots (the comfiest shoes ever!) and my bargain of a cap (5 Euros) from my college trip to Paris, then not forgetting some jewellery. For the first time, I had a clear option of what I wanted to wear and it actually worked out. I never usually wear hats on nights out but it was perfect to go with this outfit so I couldn't resist - also now having decent length hair, I don't look silly wearing it. And guess who my inspiration for this outfit was? ...... The wonderful Kavita (shewearsfashion.com), her LookBook is amazing and when I had a nose around, it inspired me to try out the Sports Luxe trend for the night!

Spring is Here!

At last, some beautiful sunshine! My favourite season has come around to treat us all, and yesterday I definitely made the most of it with my flat mates. We had a wonderful picnic at the local park near us with sandwiches and budweiser - perfection. It was such a good day, just chilling in the sun was wonderful. So for this - I decided to go for comfort with my harem hippy trousers which I got in Turkey last summer, my mesh vest with beautiful stitch patterns and my very comfortable wedge chelsea boots, then finishing it off with one of my favourite jackets, my goes-with-everything fringe biker jacket and looking like John Lennon with my sunnies on!

I'm so glad I can go all boho chic again, thank you Spring! Boho chic is probably one of my most favourite styles however it's not really an all-rounder, but when I can wear it, I like to keep it quite simple. Like this outfit - I've gone with the trousers and top being all hippy, however keeping to my style and not going full on Boho Chic, with my biker jacket and wedge boots. I love playing around with different styles without being too obnoxious about it - if you get what I mean! Even though it isn't an upcoming Spring/Summer trend - I feel like you can never go wrong with a bit of boho chic in the sunshine - it's a comfortable style. I will always be inputting a bit of hippyness into my Spring/Summer wardrobe every year anyway! Try it out, incorporate into your own style; go for a bit of paisley, maxi it up, flowers in the hair or palazzo around.

Let's Go Shopping!

Karl Lagerfeld and his team transformed the Grand Palais into a shopping centre for the Chanel Autumn/Winter 2014 show. 

Even though I don't think this is very Classic Chanel; the creation of the show was great - every detail was thought about, from the shopping centre to Chanel branded stock and even the accessories on the runway. The aisles were stocked up with Chanel branded beans, coffee, Pringles, as well as Chanel branded DIY products such as door mats and paint pots with signs and posters to easily direct everybody around this extravagant shopping centre. 

Once again, Cara Delevingne opens yet another show fiercely and beautifully, then models just poured out onto the runway making the affect of an actual shopping centre with the amount of models walking around - showcasing pink tweed, cinched waistlines, trainers, leggings and padlock chains - it was a combination of modern takes of classic Chanel; from the tweed to the easy cinched waist and the classic chain handbags. Karl Lagerfeld explained the collection as clothes you can wear everyday which are practical and won't get in the way of day-to-day life which was the original concept of Chanel, and what Chanel was recognised for.

This collection is a definitely a youthful, urban reflection on Chanel's craftsmanship and luxuriousness.

Towards the end, the models were shopping around themselves with their baskets, trolleys - looting around, collecting all Chanel branded goods. And when the announcement of the store closing, all the models ran off backstage, which allowed the audience to appreciate what just happened and loot themselves around the Chanel Shopping Centre.

This show left smiles all around and definitely going to be one of those unforgettable ones. 

The whole mise-en-scene was magnificent, bravo Karl Lagerfeld.

Oscar's best dressed goes to..

Jennifer Lawrence and Angelina Jolie.. I disagree. Yes they looked absolutely beautiful, as did most women on that red carpet, however in my opinion, I think that the best dressed award should go to:

Kate Hudson.

The Red Carpet

Kate Hudson looked absolutely stunning in her Versace gown with cape detail - the mermaid shape emphasized her figure, this Versace dress is about seducing but staying classy; as a brand it is about the body, and playing up to everything that's woman. Hudson doesn't over-do this number by leaving accessories to a minimum: a Versace clutch and Neil Lane jewels then goes for the classy waves hairstyle to match her beautiful mermaid gown then subtle smoky eyes to match the drama of the dress at the Oscars. Perfection.

The Vanity Fair After Party

The same as her red carpet number; Kate Hudson has chosen yet another beautiful gown. She wore Zuhair Murad - this black embroidered grown featured a sheer silk skirt and delicate hand-beaded detail was another very classy dress, which also left some to their imagination with the nude parts. Again, rocking a plunging neck, however the stunning bead embroidery accessorized the neck, therefore Kate Hudson has gone for minimal accessories again with just a black clutch and black jewels to match this dark but 

seductive outfit. 

I chose Kate Hudson as best dressed at the Oscar's as her gowns weren't typical ones you'd expect at the Oscar's, she stood out, showing off her beautiful figure in these amazing dresses.
