Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2014 (late post)

Now being newly employed and getting so much over time, I've literally had no time to blog but here is one.. which is very delayed yes..

I've always been a huge fan of Alexander McQueen, and was distraught when he passed, however Sarah Burton has been representing the brand successfully well since then.

This fall 2014 collection seems to be based around dark fairy tales. Burton has brought back Elizabethan Silhouettes with the A-line pleated skirts with a cinched waist. With that eerie vibe to the runway show, it looks as if it's something coming out of either medieval or fantasy, such as Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. As always, Alexander McQueen as a brand is known to stay away from the norm, which is why I love it so much, I adore designers which are super creative and passionate about creating their own in the fashion industry.. making people go 'is that really ready-to-wear, cause I could not wear that' - some people may see that as negative but to me, it makes them recognised for who the brand is and what they stand for which is out of the norm.
The dark fairy tale theme induces us with twist braided hair (portraying the twisted style of the collection) and pale face make-up contrasting with a dark eye palette with feathers - looking like the 'Black Swan'. The dramatics of each of Alexander McQueen shows are always one of a kind and leave people speechless, from questioning it in their heads to just being mind-blown.

With celebrities such as Lady Gaga, being a beloved friend and representative of Alexander McQueen, the brand is still going strong in celebrity fashion, especially on the red carpet.

Anyway, this collection is a combination of Victorian/Elizabethan silhouettes, crystallized gowns, big fur coats, sheer gowns, and lightweight feathers which portrayed the romanticism through this dark and eerie fairy tale that has been created in the show. Yet again, Sarah Burton has beautifully represented Alexander McQueen as a brand, stunning collection alongside a wonderfully dark but effective runway show.

My favourite piece of the collection, isn't it stunning?
